Online International Film Business Academy, Busan Asian Film School Call for Applications for 2021 Admission
Busan Asian Film
School (AFiS) is recruiting fellows for the 2021 International Film Business
Academy.
Ever since
COVID-19 arose and put societies around the globe in grave peril, AFiS has
continually prioritized the safety of fellows, faculty, and staff. As such, we
have decided to divide the 2021 International Film Business Academy program,
which previously was a six month course across two semesters, into two separate
individual curriculums. AFiS now presents a three month ‘Online International Film Business Academy’ course for the spring semester, as well as a three month ‘International Film Business Academy Intensive Course’ for the fall semester, in Busan, South Korea. In-person (face-to-face)
classes are planned for the fall semester. 20 students will be selected for the
fall Intensive Course from among the graduates attending the spring online
course. The
International Film Business Academy, an educational program specializing in
film producing, has been an annual regular course at Busan Asian Film School
since it welcomed its very first fellows in 2017. AFiS fosters producers via a
curriculum that includes development of a feature-length project plus courses
on investment, film policy, marketing and distribution, and more. Over the past
three years, 59 alumni from 23 countries have graduated from the International
Film Business Academy (Note - 20 fellows for the 2020 course had been selected,
but the course was cancelled due to the global pandemic).
AFiS projects,
developed through the regular course, continue to attract attention from a
variety of distinguished film festivals. Projects have been invited to the
Cannes Film Festival's Atelier?Cinefondation, Locarno Film Festival's Open Doors, and have also won the
Bucheon Award at the NAFF project market of Bucheon International Fantastic
Film Festival. Furthermore, Busan Asian Film School is receiving attention as a
new international co-production platform, after a short film co-produced by two
international fellows in the 2019 class was invited to the Orizzonti
Competition at Venice Film Festival. Anyone interested and passionate in filmmaking is
sincerely welcome to apply.
