Call for Applications for 2026 Admissions

- Producing Track -

Busan Asian Film School (AFiS) is now accepting applications for the 2026 International Film Business Academy (IFBA).

The International Film Business Academy, a specialized educational program focusing on film producing, has been a regular annual course at Busan Asian Film School since it welcomed its very first fellows in 2017. Approximately 20 filmmakers with prior experience in filming throughout Asia will be selected. It offers a curriculum designed to foster producers, which includes the development of a feature-length project, along with lectures covering topics such as investment, film policy, marketing and distribution.

In 2023, two fellows collaborated on a short project during their time in Busan. The result, ‘Ali’ was honored with a Special Mention in the short film competition in 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Another film, ‘Bleat!’ produced by one of our alumni, received the Queer Palm Award at the same festival. The feature film ‘Sunshine’ won the Crystal Bear for Best Film in the Generation 14plus category at the 2025 Berlinale. In 2024, ‘Bikechess’ was awarded Best International Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. ‘Pierce’ received the Best Director Award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. And back in 2023, ‘The Wrestler’ earned the New Currents Award in the competition section of the Busan International Film Festival.

Feature films like ‘Rapture’, which received an invitation to the competition section of the 76th Locarno Film Festival, and ‘White Building’, selected for the 78th Venice Film Festival were developed through the IFBA programs. These tangible outcomes underscore the effectiveness of the Busan Asian Film School’s program in fostering producers for international co-productions as a representative institute from Asia. The realm of Busan Asian Film School is worldwide. We aim for the future, together. AFiS is open for aspiring filmmakers throughout Asia.

We are looking forward to having you in Busan!
